How to Choose an ACEMAGIC Mini PC
ACEMAGIC sells a lot of configurations under a few names, and the name alone tells you little. The K1 comes with five different processors; the M5 with two. The way through is to decide in a fixed order: what you'll do with it, how much graphics you need, whether you want to upgrade later, how much storage, and which connections. Five steps, and you're down to one or two machines.
Step 1: Match the processor to the work
Everyday tasks (browsing, documents, calls, streaming, a home server): four-core chips are enough. Options are the Intel N150 and N97 in the V1, the Ryzen 5 3500U in the V1, and the Ryzen Embedded R2544 and Ryzen 3 7330U in the K1.
Heavier multitasking and development: eight cores or more. The Ryzen 7 7730U K1 (eight cores, 15 W) is the quiet option; the Core 5 220H M5 (twelve cores) and Core i7-14650HX M5 (sixteen cores) are the fastest for CPU work.
Light gaming and GPU editing: go to Step 2.
Step 2: Decide how much graphics you need
All ACEMAGIC machines here use integrated graphics, and they differ widely.
- Radeon 780M (X3): the strongest. Practical 1080p gaming at low to medium settings in many titles.
- Radeon 680M (M1, K1 7735HS, 6800H Mini PC): a step below, still capable for casual 1080p gaming.
- Radeon Vega 8 and Radeon U-series graphics (K1 R2544, V1 3500U, K1 7330U, K1 7730U): video and older games.
- Intel graphics (V1 N-series, M5): fine for screens and video; weak for games, even on the 16-core M5.
Step 3: Soldered or upgradable memory?
This is the step people skip and regret.
- Upgradable: the K1 R2544 (two slots, up to 32 GB) and the M5 i7 (two slots, up to 64 GB).
- Fixed at its maximum: the V1 N150 (one slot, 16 GB maximum, already filled).
- Soldered: the M1 (24 GB LPDDR5) and X3 (16 GB or 24 GB LPDDR5). Buy the size you'll need for years.
- Not published: for several builds, including the K1 7730U and 7735HS and the 6800H Mini PC, ACEMAGIC hasn't published the slot layout. Check the product page.
Step 4: Storage now and later
- Two M.2 slots: K1 R2544, M1, M5 i7 and X3 (both PCIe 4.0 on the X3).
- One slot: V1 N150, up to 2 TB.
- Out of the box: 1 TB comes on the K1 R2544 16GB, K1 7730U, M1, M5 i7, X3 and V1 N97 versions.
Step 5: Ports, screens and network
- Three screens: K1 R2544, K1 7730U, M1, M5 i7, X3 and the 6800H Mini PC. The V1 runs two.
- 2.5 Gbps Ethernet: M1, X3 and 6800H Mini PC. Others listed here have Gigabit.
- USB4: X3 only.
- Wi-Fi 6E: M5 i7 and X3. Wi-Fi 6 on the M1 and V1 N150; Wi-Fi 5 on the K1 R2544.
Shortlist
| If you want… | Look at |
|---|---|
| The smallest Windows PC | V1 · N150 |
| An everyday PC you can upgrade | K1 · R2544 16GB/1TB |
| Quiet multitasking with 32 GB | K1 · Ryzen 7 7730U |
| All-rounder with fast network | M1 · Ryzen 7 7735HS |
| Best integrated graphics | X3 · Ryzen 7 H 255 |
| Most CPU cores, up to 64 GB | M5 · Core i7-14650HX |
Common mistakes
- Buying the "gaming" label instead of the graphics. A 16-core Intel HX chip with basic Intel graphics is a CPU machine, not a gaming one.
- Ignoring soldered memory. 16 GB that can never grow can be a short-lived choice for gaming or creative work.
- Assuming one series name means one spec. Check the exact processor, memory and storage on the product page before ordering.
